Errors and Redirections in Blogger: Replace your old URLs with new ones

Welcome to my blog. If you are blogger, surely you have a blog. If you have a blog in Google's free platform at Blogger. Then you have come to the right place. We, new bloggers write posts in Bloggers at first but don't give attentions to the proper SEO. Without having much  knowledge, we publish the post. As  a results we don't get much  visitors, If got, they  are few in numbers.  But in the mean time your posts have already been indexed by  search engine. Now you want modify your posts and  posts' URLs to make them  SEO friendly or delete them. But what  will happen when a visitor will click or browse the old URLs  of your posts. They will find nothing and being  disappointed they  will never come  back to your site. What is the solutions to the problems.
Yew Blogger gives you the solutions to the problems. Bloggers has an option named Errors and Redirections. You old URL will be  redirected to the New URL  that you  will set. And your Old URL page will show a message which  you write. But  how will you do it, We shall discuss about it.


You can  see your old url from  Google webmaster tools.  So go to Google  Webmaster tools   and 

  • Click on Messages at the left.
  • Find the Not found errors and click on it.

  • Now click on blue coloured word into this lines Check the Crawl Errors page in Webmaster Tools.

  • Click on  a link from the list you will see the following images.

This is the old URL  of the your posts. See that there are Not found respose code written at the right. If you click on the URL you will find nothing but the following Message. That means either you have

deleted the post or modified the URL. Now I will show here  my own made massage instead of it. and show how this page will  be redirected to another modified URL.
So let's start and follow the followoing steps.

  • Go to blogger Dashboard.
  •  Then Click on Settings >> Search Prefference.

  •  Find Errors and Redirections. You will see Custom  pages not found. Now click on Edit at the right.

Now write a message according to your own as I have written here the above message.
  • Now click on Edit option at the right side of the Line Custom  Redirects. Click on New redirect.

  •  From: Write your old URL from the Google webmaster Not found lists. Remember, you will see your blog URL  default here. You have to write only  the rest part. Suppose Your full URL is..
 http://amiodhara.blogspot.com/2014/08/asense-and-seo-friendly-custom-robots.txt-for-blogger.html


 You have to write only the green marked part of the above line into the box at the right.

  • To :      Similarly write the new URL of you Post(Redirected URL). Wrie it exactly the same way of the above.
 Now give the Tick mark on Permanent option. And click on  Save button at  the foot. Done ! Your Old URLs have been redirected to a new ones. Please make comments if you find this post helpful to you. Good  bye and take care.
